What does such an event bring for the city?
There is already an international image: several teams from all over the world are competing here. It’s always nice to be able to welcome them. There is obviously an economic impact with accommodation and catering. Overall, this positively speaks Marcq-en-barœul in the media. We hope, of course, that the players will leave with a beautiful image of the city. I learned this morning that some Americans saw snow for the first time in their lives. This will make them a beautiful memory.
What does Master’U BNP Paribas represent for the city of Marcq-en-barœul?
This is another event that shines the city of Marcq-en-Barœul and proves the sporting and dynamic image of the city.
What is the contribution of the city in the Master’U PNB Paribas?
We help the Hauts-de-France Tennis League in the organization, indirectly by organizing the draw of the tournament in the lounges of the town hall … This also involves pure logistical support. They are given barriers, podiums, felt boards. We adapt too. This morning, the road has passed the sandblasters to clear access roads. It facilitates the organization of the event and the organization of the League in general.
The rest of the year, do you collaborate together on other events?
We collaborate with the tennis league according to their events and according to our means. On the same model as the sports associations of the city.
What are the other highlights that materialize this collaboration?
The last highlight is none other than the Davis Cup final. A few years ago, there was the organization of the team championships in France. Next year, there will be the championships of France tennis companies. It is a very dynamic league that regularly offers events. Especially since the room is really an equipment that allows to organize this kind of tournament in the best conditions.
Does tennis have an important place in the sporting life of Marcq-en-baroeul?
It is an important sport. The tennis club of the city, the Marcq-en-barœul Tennis Club, is the second club of the league Hauts-de-France in terms of licensees. It has about 750 licensees. Tennis has always had an important place here, it is part of the policy of the city of elected officials whose objective is to develop and promote the sport on the city of Marcq-en-barœul.
